Call the Philippine Now!

If you to call the Philippines, there are a number of great ways to do this, but before we get into the ways of calling to the Philippines we need to take a moment to talk about the Philippines phone system.

In the Philippines, making a call is similar to that of the United States in that each area of the Philippines has its own area code followed by a 7 digit number. This is the same for both landline phone numbers as well as cell phone numbers. However, there are more cell phones then there are landline phones so therefore the cell phones get their own area code. There are a lot of area codes for cell phones in the Philippines and after a while, you will be able to tell whether a cell phone is on the Globe Network or even the Smart Network.

Making a call within the Philippines is a little different though because there are two major landline companies. These two companies are PLDT and Globe. However if you want to call a PLDT landline number from a Globe landline, you will not be able to unless you pay for it. The same use to go with the two major cell phone companies which once again are Globe and PLDT. PLDT’s cell phone company though operates under the name of SMART.

In most cases though if you are calling to the Philippines internationally this will not matter. As for the international calls though, there are many ways to go around doing this. You can call the Philippines from your landline as well as your cell phone. You can also get a calling card or call via VOIP. Furthermore, if you are going to be talking a lot to someone in the Philippines, it is always better to text and you can even get a Globe or Smart cell phone and prepaid card in many countries around the world which will let you send a text directly to the Philippines.

The international calling number of the Philippines is 63, so if you were calling from the United States you would use the U.S. outgoing number of “1” followed by “63” and the area code followed by the actual number. Now in most cases you will be calling a cell phone and many times you will be given a 4 digit area code but this too is not an issue. Simply drop the first of the four numbers and the remaining 3 digits is the area code.

Making a call to the Philippines is not as hard as you would think. There are so many options to choose from and while some may be expensive, most are relatively affordable for just about anyone.
